I have been working on an EP titled The Shape of this Object. You can listen here: https://open.spotify.com/artist/4SPmuuL2bZBPwySedzCvYD?si=V9lFcjpzTxy1sUlhH2_YpQ&dl_branch=1. Or I have embedded it as a widget.

More music will be making its way into the “world” soon. Hope everyone is well.

This music is by objects, about objects & is in itself a rendered object. As Maurice Merleau-Ponty pointed out, it is the engagement with a given, definite milieu, irrefutable to our senses and in which we have the impulse to move toward & around objects, that we are certain of our body’s integrity. Objects should not be taken for granted. Objects live in the dark. They are withdrawn from completeness. We can never know them entirely. They defy us. Elude our best guess work. I think about objects a lot. I think about what they do, how they are, what can possibly go wrong with them…I lump everything into the category: object. Therefore, I call myself an object-oriented ontologist. The world is a void without pliable, tangible, objects affecting everything with their thingy-ma-jigness. This music is an object, I can indicate to it with my ears. Music is an object. You cannot elude the objecthood of anything whatsoever. My music is an attempt to get objects to agentially natter at us. They do anyway.

This music is an adjunct to my theoretical work. I wanted to capture the peculiar sadness my theoretical work causes me. I also wanted to use sound for in a representational function, as I think is clear by the noises I have chosen for these compositions and the intensity they evoke.

The album artwork is by my very good friend alunvoyd.com, please check out his very beautiful & unusual work.
