singing bowl ㅋ

the next consonant :ㅋ, in a series of poems about a singing bowl, written after Robert Okaji’s shutters poems. go here to read the original prolegomenon.

why is the singing bowl
cold as a woman’s hands?
how come its circulation
is so poor :
the friction with the mallet
isn’t enough?
the Levin between us not enough?
must we abstract curls
of warm -it doesn’t feel right
to warm its insides with tea,
the mix of iron & brass
is unpalatable, a step too far
for reasons of taste
& coffee is too bitter
it might encourage
black holes to materialize.
best it remain cold
& feminine, warmed
by cupped hands
– pick up the singing bowl.,,

a penny for your thoughts
