singing bowl ㅁ

the next consonant :ㅁ, in a series of poems about a singing bowl, written after Robert Okaji’s shutters poems. go here to read the original prolegomenon.

there’s a syllable
in it somewhere,
a stretched frequency
picking at the seams
of a shoddy, universal fabric
-a cry for help, warning
or mother’s hum,
a grumbling stomach
between cats purr
& Theremin

: in time there is
patination to concern
itself with,
the rust in the pipe
the frog in the throat
the end of influence
that ushers our hand
along the perimeter

of the universe
& back

a penny for your thoughts
